Webinar: New Evidence: Why Software Projects Still Fail

Meeting Date:
Tuesday 13th April 2010

Presenter: Ted Smillie, Montrose Computer Services

Standish Group's "CHAOS Summary 2009“reported that 68% of software projects were either challenged or failed, noting that “This year's results represent the highest failure rate in over a decade".

After all the post mortems and all the lessons learned from failed software projects, why are we still getting it wrong? What do we have to do to get it right?

Some recent research is gloomy, giving reasons why some projects will continue to fail and offering little hope for any change in the short term. Other research is more upbeat and there are some initiatives under way which are already producing promising results.

This webinar revisits the reasons for software project failure in light of recent research and reviews potential improvement in project success rates from recent initiatives.
